DBS stands for Disclosure and Barring Service. It provides criminal record checks for eligible roles in England and Wales.
Enhanced checks are usually requested by an employer or organisation for a role that is legally eligible. There are routes through an umbrella body for some self-employed workers and personal employees; eligibility still applies. Ask the organisation requesting the check which route to use.
Times vary depending on the check and whether additional police checks are needed. We’ll publish a current estimate here once your processing provider confirms it.
Application details should only be entered through the secure application portal. Please review CrownDBS’s privacy notice and the processing provider’s privacy information before applying.
